On Ringo Lake 2017 Mystery - Monday Link Up Part 1

Hello fellow mystery adventurers.  I have not posted for awhile and decided the Quiltville Mystery 2017 would be a good time to start again.  This will be short and sweet but wanted to participate in the link-up.

I just have to say that I love the colors going into this mystery.  I often change the colors but these are so pleasing together that I am going with them.  When Bonnie first released the colors I went to stash and pulled all fat quarters that worked.  Here they are and I think the are yummy!

And here are my first 9-patch blocks.  Ironically I did not use any of the fabric I pulled.  I am sure I will as the mystery progresses but I am a scrap user addict (read more about the scrap user system here Scrap User's System).  I pulled my pre-cut scrap bin, found the colors I needed and started cutting.  Because most were not long strips I cut everything into squares trying to limit the number of each fabric to 8 or 9 squares keeping each block uniquely scrappy.  I had fun with the brown making each one a different fabric. See the puppy in the upper left.

Here is my start on the remaining blocks I need to finish Part 1 (click to find part 1 at Quiltville).  I hope to have them done before the next clue is released.

Thanks for visiting today.

Joyfully piecing On Ringo Lake,
Terry

****UPDATE 11-28 all Part 1 blocks done, bring on Part 2.****

P.S. My friend Nancy is also playing along.

2016 The Year of the CUP

The Chinese New Year has its animal designations, I think this year is the year of the monkey, so I decided to give my year a designation (an acronym is more specific.). This is my year of the CUP.  It is described as:
Complete it - all those almost/mostly finished project need to be completed
Use it up - be it fabric, yarn, zippers, flour, protein powder, etc. use it OR
Pass it on - give it away, too old - toss it, but move it out if I have no use for it.
William Morris said "Have nothing in your home that you do not find to be either beautiful or useful."  I am adding has it been used. I have a lot of "useful" things that I no longer use.  Passing them on they may find new life in a new place.

I am aiming for 15 minutes at a time to go through drawers, cupboards and bins. I did my first 15 minutes on Sunday last. I surprised myself at how much I accomplished. So I will be setting a timer and  doing another 15 soon. I may not get to it everyday and some times it may be 5 minutes or 2 hours but I will do it.

Now a quick recap of 2015. There were many projects finished last year. Some were old and some were new but these are some of the finishes.

Row by Row 2015 for Sierra Sewing Center

Sewing Machine cover for my niece

Little Wallet for a friend

pillowcase

two Triangle Frenzy table toppers

First of two professional totes

thread catcher with pin cushion
2nd of 3 Forever Fishing Quilts

Forever Fishing label
Bag for my sister in law

There were also lots of starts  that I hope to finish this year.  So that's it for the recap.  Hope your 2015 was joyful and you had some fun finishes.  I am looking forward to 2016 and new adventures in quilting and designing.  Thanks for visiting.
Joyfully looking ahead.
